Colonial Militia wore their usual clothes to war but the professional army were an impressive sight in their bold uniforms and polished weaponry. The different military organisations and social groups can give different themes to a character, be it professional, civilian, officer or veteran.

The colonial efforts of the old world empires such as the British, French and Spanish were brutally competitive, battling for control of valuable resources and wealthy trade routes with each other and the Native Americans. At first, many colonists were welcomed as strange travellers with amazing tools and trinkets for trade, new neighbours struggling to survive in a foreign land. Before long, the colonists were taking more and more land with little respect for native customs, territories and resources and the Native American tribes began to fight back. With little more than bows and hatchets against gunpowder weapons and forged steel they stood little chance but still fought with great ferocity.
